Hufflepuff Common Room

Welcome, Hufflepuffs, to our Tumblr common room! We are CharmRose113 (Megan) and ChaserGlow57 (Taylor), two of your proud prefects, AKA blog moderators. Feel free to submit posts; this is a place for us to share.

“You’re the weak one. And you’ll never know love or friendship. And I feel sorry for you.”

Our poor members to points ratio is due to the fact that thousands of people who were sorted into Hufflepuff, being disappointed with their sorting, have abandoned their accounts and are waiting for October to make new ones in hopes that they’ll get into a different house. The house points are determined by some sort of average, and we have literally thousands of vacant accounts with zero points bringing ours down.

I don’t think we should be upset about the points, though. Of course it’s fun to talk about “brewing for Bob” and to get each other excited about gaining points, of course it’s frustrating to see hard work go to waste because we’re so far behind, but, in the end of the day, it’s just a game! What isn’t “just a game”, though, is the fact that there are so many people who clearly never learned anything from Harry Potter. There are amazing witches and wizards who come from EVERY house, but that isn’t the point. It is true that you are not defined by your house, but rather THRIVE there to become the best witch or wizard you can, but even that isn’t the point. The point is that it doesn’t matter WHO or WHAT you are - a witch, a wizard, a squib, a giant, a house elf, or even a muggle - it’s what you DO. If these people had read Harry Potter properly, learned the lessons that J.K. Rowling had intended us to learn, we wouldn’t be in this predicament. Some of us are proud to be what we are, because we know what we’re capable of. We should feel sorry for the people who are obviously projecting their own feelings of inadequacy onto their sorting.
